We are a small independent project, and we prefer it that way: one email channel, a real human on the other end, and an answer within five working days. No phone, no live chat, no AI chatbot — the site itself is the product, and this page is how you reach the people who run it.
That single address routes everything: site feedback, data corrections, city requests, press. If your message is about a specific page, include the URL — it saves a round trip.
What to write about
- City requests: the city, its latitude/longitude if you know them, and one line on what makes it interesting for aurora viewing (aurora tourism infrastructure, a dark-sky park nearby, photographer-friendly coastline, etc). We maintain Kp thresholds for 53 cities and add new ones where the data supports it.
- Methodology corrections: if you think our Kp thresholds, weighting, or astronomy are wrong for your location, please cite a primary source (a NOAA publication or peer-reviewed paper). We have changed the model before based on good evidence, and we will again.
- Bug reports: include your browser, the page URL, and a screenshot if relevant. The most useful detail is what the factor cards showed at the time — that tells us which data source misbehaved.
- "The forecast was wrong last night": we genuinely want these. Tell us your city, the verdict we showed, and what actually happened in the sky. Verdict misses feed directly back into threshold tuning.
- Press and partnerships: the publication or organisation and the angle, so we can route your mail quickly.
What we can't help with
We can't provide personalised travel itineraries, promise that you will see the aurora, or chase individual solar-wind alerts on your behalf — the 27-day outlook and every city page are updated continuously, and they are the fastest way to answer "when should I look?". For deep technical space-weather questions beyond our scope, NOAA SWPC's own site is the authoritative source.
Privacy of your message
Anything you write lives in our email inbox and is shared with no third party. We don't add you to any list, and we delete correspondence on request. Details on retention and deletion are in the Privacy Policy.
